Guy Harvey is a unique blend of diver, artist, angler, scientist and conservationist. Growing up in Jamaica, Harvey spent many hours fishing and diving with his father along the island's south shore. Great book with interesting history and stories about the pioneers of fishing. I just found out that the Schmidt Brothers were distant cousins on my dad's side of the family and was able to see some great photos of my second cousins. Since reading the book I passed it along to my Dad who turned 89 just recently and he was astonished and amazed to see and read about his first cousins who moved from Baltimore to Panama. Since then I have reached descendants of the Schmidt brothers on Facebook and continue to learn more about their past and their passion for fishing. This book is a treasure!
Having grown up in Panama this book has brought back so many memories. I had hoped it had more about the Balboa Yacht Club and its members but it gave me a greater appreciation of what has taken place since I left there in 1967.
Outstanding coffee table book. I am going to TROPIC STAR LODGE, this coming Dec., and wanted to learn everything I could, prior to arriving. I intend to purchase another used copy for y weekend home, near South Padre Island.
Have not had time to actually read the book but the table of contents and the pictures...both tell me it's a very comprehensive and beautifully orchestrated compendium of history, facts, and fun.
